Hi guys,
I've hit a bit of a brick wall and need some help.
I've got hold of a Suzuki GSX-R600 engine and am putting it in my Apache RLX 450. I brought the engine off of a guy who races 2 stroke's so it wasn't any use to him, but he told me he knew nothing about it. its literally just an engine, no exhaust, wiring loom, carbs, nothing.
The Chassis is all cut up and ready to accept the engine but the guy who is doing it needs the carbs to figure out how to weld the new chassis. I've tried the local Suzuki specialist who couldn't help so i rang Suzuki today who told me that with the engine serial number it was an import so couldn't help. all they could do was issue me a certificate for 90 Pound which doesn't help me at all.
I've done some internet research that is pointing to the engine being a K6 but this engine is injected and mine definitely needs carbs. One friend has suggested the engine could be an SRAD which carbs are easy to get hold of, but my drama is this isn't gospel and whilst i may be able to bodge come SRAD carbs on, the wiring loom and CDI for an SRAD may not fit.
Can anybody shed some light on this please? iv'e tried de-coding the engine number online and have just found that its a 500-599cc 4 stroke 4 cylinder.
Here's the Serial number incase there's any Automotive Angels on here that can help; N732-141687
I'm currently toying with the idea of cutting my losses with the engine iv'e brought and looking at getting a crashed bike to use as donor parts which will ultimately be easyer but it seems a shame to do away with the engine ive already spent good money.
Thanks in advance for any help guys, and before anyone suggests, iv'e been scouring the GSX-R forums
